How to shoot a Round of Trap
Trap is a clay target shooting sport in which clay disks called “clays” or “pigeons” are launched from a trap house at a high speed towards the shooter. The shooter tries to break the clays with a shotgun.
To play a round of trap, you will need the following:
- A shotgun
- Shotgun shells
- Eye and ear protection
- A shooting vest or belt
- A hat
- Closed-toe shoes
Once you have all of your gear, you can head to the trap range. The trap range will have a trap house, which is a small building that houses the clay-throwing machine. There will also be a series of shooting stations, which are numbered from 1 to 5.
The first step is to find a shooting station and get your gear ready. Make sure your shotgun is unloaded and that your eye and ear protection are on.
Once you are ready, the shooter at the first station will call “pull”. This signals the trap-thrower to launch a clay target. The shooter then aims their shotgun at the clay target and fires. If the shooter hits the clay target, it will break. If the shooter misses the clay target, it will fly out of bounds.
The shooter will then move to the next shooting station and repeat the process. This will continue until the shooter has shot at 25 clay targets.
The shooter’s score is the number of clay targets that they hit. The highest possible score is 25.
Trap is a challenging but rewarding sport. It is a great way to improve your hand-eye coordination and shooting skills. It is also a lot of fun!
